WELCOME BACK FROM THE HOLIDAYS!
January is popular time for resolutions, many of which are related to a better diet. Traditional Chinese Medicine emphasizes the importance of a balanced diet for reasons beyond weight-loss and physical health. Everything is moved by the workings of a well-functioning spleen. An overall nourished Earth element helps to ground our mind and body.
The TCM spleen and stomach duo are often taxed in a barrage of ways over the holidays. Patients and practitioners alike may indulge in richer foods, eat abundantly or eat under stress. As the holidays can also be busy and taxing, it's easy to get stuck in a cycle of overthinking. Many then also resolve to drastically change their diet to usher in a healthier self. Physical health makes for good goal. A whole healthier self, including the ability to keep life in perspective makes for an even better goal. A well-nourished Earth element within us means that our optimally functioning TCM spleen and stomach can give rise to clear thought, and a harmonized mind-body connection.
No matter the resolution endeavors one has embarked on there are an abundance of herbs to support the spleen-stomach network as the main source of the essential postnatal energy. Into 2019 we go!
