Shao Yao Gan Cao Tang is an ancient formula developed about 2000 years ago by one of the most renowned physicians of that time, Zhang Zhongjing to treat disorders caused by cold. It is used today to help alleviate muscle pains by nourishing blood and enriching yin.

In this formula, White Peony nourishes the blood, preserves yin, and softens the liver while Baked Licorice tonifies and augments the qi of the middle jiao. Together they harmonize the liver and spleen.
